Sounds good. I would love to go down in the annals of time as a forefather of AH! The cs15 is a beaut of a little (3 octave keyboard) monosynth and is set up in 2 parallel audio paths. The are 1 lfo (sine, ramp down, non-triggerable s/h), 2 VCOs, 2 VCFs, 2 egs (adsrs) and 2 VCAs. The first audio path starts with VCO1 (triangle, ramp down, and square, 64'-2', lfo mod, pw% 50-90, and pwm) and goes through a mixer module which is mixed with a noise source, either internal (white) or external. It is then ran through the VCF which can either be a LP, BP, or HP. It is a resonant filter, but does not go into sharp self oscillation. The filter can be modulated by the LFO or a EG (eg1+, EG1-, EG2+) and these modulation amounts are controllable. From the filter it goes in the AMP which again can be modulated by the LFO or EG (1 or 2) or be left wide open. The EGS are ADSR and can be buped up to 5x for extra looooong EG stage times. Another neat fucntion of the EG1 is that it can be triggered via the external signal jack, with the triggering level definable. The 2nd audio path is much like th efirst except the mixer section mixes VCO1+VCO2 and the filter can be modulated by EG1+. EG2+, or EG2-. You can tune the VCOs (as we know, this is analog) easily from the front panel and VCO2 can be detuned as well. You can also assign glide depth to each VCO individually, but only one speed. To the left of the keyboard there are 3 performance controls, a portamento slider, a "brilliance" slider (you can move either or both filter's cutof level) a pitch bend centering lever which can either bend narrow, medium, or wide. finally, the back panel. It has 2 outputs, low and high level(plus a headphone out under the keyboard on the front) , 2 CV ins (one for each VCO which is quite nice), cv out, trigger in (again, one for each eg), trigger out and external in with a 0/-20 2 position switch. Remember, the early yamaha cs stuff CVs are not the regular 1v\oct variety. Good enough? Rob "The patch in fig. 2-23 gives the sound of a cracking whip. Some excelent features include... 2 Osc. capable of tri, sqr, saw 2 env. with ADSR with the first triggering from ext. or keyboard 2 lovely filtes which can be assigned high pass, low pass or band pass. and can assign these filters to either env, as can either VCA. Has more, but just can't think about it ight now.... external input! too. Richard NOiSE That price (300$?) was a little high though. -- "the Moog 900 system is a remarkable synthesis of the best features of the classical electronic music tehnique, the RCA Sound Synthesizer, and computer-generated sound programming, with great convenience and 'cybernetic engineering.'" Take one of the CS-15 outs (there are 2 labelled 0 and 20dB I think) and plug it into the EXT in socket. Now use the ext pot to control self oscillation. It works best in band pass. Perfect for those random LFO filter tinkles. Discovered it when an SH101 was taken away from me temporarily and I needed the tinkly effect for a video soundtrack I was working on. Hope to rejoin this list in October... see yis!
