: Prophet T8 : Sequential Circuits : 1983 -> : Ernest Bruggeman/DRPO5 : Sequentials flagship analogue sythesizer released in 1983 boasted a 76 key wooden keyboard which was both velocity and pressure sensitive and an internal 8 bank sequencer. : Polyphonic : 8 (2 x VCO's per voice) : Keyboard : 6 Octaves, A-C, weighted wooden keyboard, velocity and pressure sensitive* *Pressure can be mapped to ; VCF and VCA EG modulation, Pitch bend on both Osc's, Pulse width modulation of both Osc's, VCF frequency, volume, LFO modulation amount, LFO speed. : Poly, Unison, double (dual/layer), split (floating) : 2 part : Programmable : 128 patches arranged as 64 lower and 64 upper : No : 2 Voltage controlled Oscillators per voice. Both Osc's are adjustable over a 4 octave range and offer Saw, Tri and Pulse waves. Osc1 has Sync and Osc2 can be detuned and switched to form another LFO. : VCO's = CEM3340's, VCF's = CEM 3372's and VCA's are CEM3360's. : Yes : 24db lowpass resonant filter with adjustable freq. and resonance.Filter can track keyboard. Will self oscillate. : Programmable LFO offers Saw up, Pulse and Tri waves control over amount and frequency. VCO2 can form another LFO by switching out the keyboard control and switching the Osc to low frequency. : Osc's can be cross-modulated. LFO destinations ; OSC1 and OSC2 frequency (FM), and pulse width (PWM) Filter frequency. Poly-Mod inherrited from the P5 - (see the P5 spec). : VCF - ADSR, ADR(vel), 2nd release switch, VCA - ADSR ADR(vel), 2nd release switch. : No : Yes - white : Yes - monophonic : Yes - 670 notes/8 banks, real time polyphonic. : No : Poly-mod section, opto sensors for keyboard trig. : ? : Cassette interface. Footswitches - Sequencer start/ stop, 2nd release, mono/poly assign : Audio - left, right, mono. Cassette interface. : ? : Yes : N/A : : : 01 : : ? : Prophet 5, Pro-1, Prophet 600. : n/a : n/a : (DPRO5)The T8 is an eight voice Prophet 600 with software generated envelopes, and an extended key- board with velocity and polyphonic aftertouch. The panel layout is similar to the Prophet 5 but offers more control. Some say the T8 sounds closer to the Prophet 600 than the Prophet 5 due to having a much smoother sound. To sum up: T8's have a very nice sound. The T8 is physically very large with it's 76 keys it weighs in at around 70 lbs. : n/a
