Ya know, there's always the lost art of EQ...one of the best tools for an analog synth is a 7-band graphic hanging downwind... I have one. I hate the front panel graphics (why the big rectangles, Roland? They don't mean anything), but I don't hate the unit. I just don't use it. The acoustic pianos are, IMNSHO, crud. Just not very interesting. My MKS-7 Super Quartet module has a piano preset that I like better. Try it, maybe it will float your boat. You sure won't sound like anyone else. The electric pianos are another story, they're kinda interesting. Pretty good for an analog module. Might be interesting for your purposes. The harpsichords are cool. Whenever I plug in the Planet-P, I wind up playing one of the harpsichords and thinking about high-BPM sequences. It doesn't sound like a real harpsichord, but it is a nice analog sound. The Planet-P is not a software variant of some other Roland module. I've had mine apart--it is not an MKS-7 or MKS-30 with different patches, it has very different circuitry, complete with trim pots. One reason for this, I think, was that it has more polyphony than synth modules had at the time. I think it is 16-voices, so that you can play more piano literature than you can with the 4, 6, or 8-voice synths. Eirikur Short answer: Weird large, heavy, white elephant, with poor acoustic piano emulation, even for a synth. Chorus/flanger, and independent tremelo. Stereo outs. An EX-8000 will eat this thing's lunch. $100.00 max. if you are using it. It's probably worth a little more as a collectors' item. Status: OR Hello All, There is only one hole in my setup -- no bridge beteen CV and MIDI, other than the outputs of my 303 and 606 that are SYNC'd via MIDI. I have always thougt that a low cost alternative to a cv-midi converter was purchasing a stand alone CV sequencer and syncing it to my sequencer that supports both DIN SYNC and MIDI. I called Daddy's Junkie Music the other day and they are mailing a ROLAND CSQ-100 CV sequencer for me to take a look at in Boston. Could anyone tell be the features of this beast (ie: does it have real-time entry?), and if it has a DIN SYNC input? And what is a good price to offer them for it? I want to buy it as cheep as possible because I am going to London this summer and need to save my money. Is $60.00 to ridiculously low of an offer? Lastly, I would be using the csq-100 with an SH-101, I know that will work, but does it also support S-Trigger gate, so I can sequence my Rouge MOOG? Thanks! Also, they are shipping up a Roland Planet-P analogue piano module, and it sounds interesting for Techno-piano. Anyone have any specs on this piece, or know what a fair price is for one? thanks again!! Jonathan. Well, today I looked at that planet-p piano module. I did'nt think I would ever find an analogue synth I disliked, but this thing sucked!!!! It sounded horrible!!!! It was basically a large black box with 8 pre-sets for piano/clavs/e-piano/harps and nothing else. (besides a built-in chorus and flanger. None of the sounds were interesting, and I ask why Roland made such a looser/shitty piece of equipment!!!! I have no idea why it was so large, because the stuff inside it sucked. Oh well, I guess the analogue Roland line isn't perfect after all. (ho hum). But, I did see something called a casio cz-101, and I really liked the sounds because they were really technoish. Does anyone have any comment about this piece of equipment? jonathan.
