The machine should be out by july, the guy ordered 20 units and 17 are already reserved !!! He told me that he never get such a rush for a music instrument in his whole life !!! ROLAND should reach their objective quickly ... ;-) More infos in the unit : 448 pcm tones, 12 drum kits, 7 x chords rps sequencing part + 1 x drum rps sequencing track (internal) + 8 x 'normal' midi tracks (via midi in). 28 notes of polyphony. Rhythm sequencing a la TR-909 (with 16 knobs, moving light and so on ..). RealTime Muting of tracks or/and rhythmic instruments splitted in 8 groups (bass, snare, toms, hihat, clap, cymbals, percussion & other) based on 808, 909, cr78, 727 and 606 samples. Dual effect unit (Delay OR reverb, and chorus OR flanger), pan, volume. Single L/R stereo out (NO MULTI-OUT !!!! THAT'S THE *MAJOR* MINUS !!!!). Midi IN/OUT (NO THRU !!! NO MULTI-OUT !!! NO SYNC !!!). Probably better a cool sequencing tool rather than a real soundbox ... bye dj terrorist --------------------------------------------------------------------- MY PERSONAL HOMEPAGE @ http://www.infomaniak.ch/~trz/index.html GENEVA TECHNO PAGES @ http://www.infomaniak.ch/~trz/GTP.html THE TB-303 HOMEPAGE @ http://www.infomaniak.ch/~trz/TB-303/tb303.htm From dgriesb@ge02.honeywell.de Tue Mar 19 08:34:52 1996 19 Mar 96 11:34:46 +0500 18 Mar 96 05:21:53 +0500 Date: Mon, 18 Mar 1996 11:19:30 +0000 From: dgriesb@ge02.honeywell.de (Dirk Griesbach) Subject: NEWS from Frankfurt MC303: Like everybody knows in the meantime there is a MC303 groove box by Roland. It will be available in summer. It's a digital beast, three times the size of the TB. It's definitely NOT a 303 clone, it just has lots of 303 samples in it.It also has some nice pad sounds, the unavoidable 909 sounds etc. The samples sound good enough for live performance; not as authentic as the originals but better than Quasimidi's Raven does (The Raven is conceptual a very similar unit, think of the MC303 being kind of Raven without keyboard). The sounds are not as bad as stated elsewhere though they don't stretch to professional needs. The filter is indeed very digital. The MC 303 also has a 8 track sequencer. The programming is TRX0X'ish. Select a sound for a track, start the sequencer and set the steps. There is also a nice feature called 'low boost' which gives punch to the sounds which are rather felt than being heard. NOVATION: Good news from Novation. They gonna release the DRUMSTATION this summer which looks nearly the same as the rackmounted Basstation and contains:...... Yeah, a very good sounding, physical modelling using TR808/909 sound imitation (no samples!). All voice paramter tuning knobs are available and in direct comparison to the originals it sounds VERY crispy, punchy, tight.....authentic. It's also got to have a DIN-sync input but no sequencer. Around $750 E-mu: The 'Dance Planet' called 'ORBIT' (1U 19") is not so brand new but also worth mentioning it: Has got lot of punch (not as thin as the Morpheus is), 600 stylish samples in 8MBytes (therefore no multisamples), 6 indiv outs (which can be pairwise combined to stereo outs) and 4(four) LFO's which can be sync'ed to MIDI clock. 17 Filter types (the e-mu analogue ones (;-) ) including morph effects, 8 sounds can be stacked. Keep cool, enjoy yourself grisi _______________________________________________________________ / Dirk Griesbach Phone: +49 6181/401 757 \ | Honeywell Regelsysteme GmbH Fax: +49 6181/401 553 | | XFI Engineering | | Honeywellstr. 2-6 | | D-63477 Maintal | \_GERMANY______________________email: dgriesb@ge02.honeywell.de /
