Anyone ? sheesh you could wait more than 5 hours before reposting ;) what you need is to clock the 303 sequencer to midi.. cv/gate of course is just for controlling notes, not clocking. you need something to convert between midi clocks and din sync, which is what the 303 (and 606 and 202 and others) uses. adam mentioned a few. the msq100 is a decent choice -- small and cheap. the msq700 is a bit overkill for just sync (it's big too). there's also the korg kms30, which is a great choice -- lots of ins and outs and it does sync at two different rates. also the roland sbx10 and sbx80 (the 80 is kind of overkill again). there are also some new things that do it. the kenton pro-2 and pro-4 i believe. also at least one of those monosynth 303 clones (was it the syntecno?). mike ______________________________________________________________________________ Then ... we will descend on Spain. ... CHEAPEST is probably to find a used TR-707 somewhere and get that. A 707 can be found for under US$200 pretty easily. It will provide MIDI clocks and 303 (aka Roland DIN) sync at the same time. Drawback here is that the 707 has to be the master clock for your setup - it won't send DIN Sync unless it is driving. Main reason this is lame is because the 707 has a continuously variable tempo knob that tends to drift. You *can* get away with it, I've even done it with drum loops (check "Tra Vigne" on the Freaky Chakra album for an example), but it may drift out of time. BEST way is to buy a box whose main job in life is to convert MIDI clocks to DIN sync. Roland's SBX-80 will do it. (good luck finding one). Kenton's Pro-2 will do it AND give you something like four separate CV/Gates for interfacing with your analog gear - this is definitely the Rolls Royce approach but it costs. It may cost less for you since you are in the UK and I think Kenton is a British company. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Drukman jsd@cyborganic.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------
