The Jupiter-8 has a unique double memory protect feature. I don't have my manual handy, and it's a feature I never use so may not have all of these steps right but it should be close. When you write a patch into memory you can do it two ways: 1. a) press the write button. b) press the numbers for the location you want to use. 2. a) press and hold the write button while you b) press the numbers for the location you want to use. If you use the second procedure, the patch is stored with an extra protect "flag" in the data itself. To overwrite a patch that has been stored with an extra protect "flag" you have to write the new patch twice. I think you do this by: 1. a) press the write button. b) press the numbers for the location you want to use. c) press the numbers for the same location to confirm overwrite. Let me know if this does not work and I'll look it up and get the full procedure from the owner's manual. This feature allows you to mark any important patches, as a reminder that you may not want to overwrie a particular patch. It wasn't really meant to be used on all patches. BTW, anyone knows how to "unflag" those protected patches??!? To keep the same patch but remove the "flag": 1. a) Select the "flagged" patch (Example: 45) 2. a) Press and hold the Write Button and then: b) Select the buttons for the same location (45) d) Release the Write buton.
