The Cat SRM schematics seem to match my A-1000 version layout, so these notes should apply to the vast majority of Cats. Take off the bottom cover. Keys facing you, jacks to the back. Look at the main board and you should see 3 connectors. One along the left edge (ignore this one) and 2 across the top. I will call these Main 1 and Main 2 (left to right). Also notice the connector on the right side of the keyboard assembly. This is Key 1. All connector pins are numbered like this: 6 5 4 3 2 1 Jacks are normally closed: input side is the thin inner piece of metal and the output side is the big curly piece that touches a jack when inserted. CV IN is connected like this: wire from Key 1 (pin 5) to the input side of the jack. Wire from output side is connected to Main 2 (pin 3). This way, when a jack is inserted, the signal from the keyboard is disconnected and the new cv is inserted into the synth. GATE IN is connected like this: wire from Key 1 (pin 3) to the input side of the jack. Wire from output side is connected to Main 1 (pin 2). Note that my Cat has both cv and gate inputs on one normally closed stereo jack. The tip is the cv and the ring is the gate. I'd prefer 2 jacks myself because you don't need to make a splitter cable. If you don't have these connectors on your board, let me know. To find the real place in the circuitry, I'll have to disassemble the Cat. It needs a cleaning anyway, but I won't be able to get to it immediately. Hope this helps. -- _______________________________________________________________________________ Tom Moravansky tmoravan@netcom.com quiet electronics
