Hold down the Audition button when powering up. The display should read "1.3" if it's anything else you need the new (V1.3) ROM. 2. Listen to the unit when you're playing a dense pattern. Do sounds drop out? Is there any digital screech or breaking up? If so you need a new Power supply. Call novation and tell them the exact PS model you have and tell them the problems you're experiencing. they'll tell you if it is the new or replacement one (My "new" PS is a Mutec YA4 and it works perfectly.) 3. Look on the front of the unit. Is there an orange stripe along the bottom? If so you have a V2. (NOTE: this may or may not have the above problems anyway. Both V1s and V2s can experience dropout and digital processing problems.) More questions?
