The MM-16 can indeed edit synth parameters other than Kawai synths via Sysex. It has a total of 16 memory locations for saving exclusive edit patches. Once you have it programmed for your particular MIDI synth, you can move the sliders and change the programming parameters in your synth in realtime. Patches 1 - 4 are user-set locations for other than Kawai MIDI instruments. Patches 5 - 10 are preset for K4/K4r synths. Patches 11 - 13 are preset for the XD-5. Patches 14 - 16 are preset for the K1/K1II/K1m/K1r/K1rII synths. You can save Patches 1 - 4 to a PC or MIDI Dta Filer via Sysex. IMO, the MM-16 is a perty cool dedicated control box. Is this true? I've heard in the past that this is slightly more powerfull in terms of MIDI than the PC-1600. Someone please enlighten me, i have a lead on one but don't want it if i can't set my own CCs & sysex strings in it. - -Larry
