The EML seems to be one of those beasts with separate gate and trigger signals. Problem: it only sends out the gate, and takes in the trigger (which re-triggers the envelopes, but not if they have already decayed to silence...) - and it needs both to operate properly. So, some surgery was required. This is how I added a switch to go between normal triggering, external triggering, and drone mode: 1) Mount a 1 pole, 3 throw switch of your choosing somewhere on the front panel. I used a rotary switch, and placed it on the lower right under the preamp knob. 1) Disconnect the brown wire from the keyboard in connector on the main panel (pin 3). Jumper it over to the wiper on your rotary switch. This is the combined gate/trigger to the EML. 2) Run a new wire from the now-free pin 3 on the keyboard connector to the first pad on the rotary switch. This position on the switch is for normal playing. 3) Install or borrow an input jack on the EML, and run a wire from the tip of this connector to pad 2 on the switch. This positiong on the switch is for external triggering. (For my external input, I stole the ordinary trigger in. This means taking the red wire from that jack that ran to PCB near the power supply, removing it from the PCB, and instead connecting it to pad 2 of the switch above. Finally, you must jumper together the white and yellow wires that are also connected to this jack; otherwise, it won't work 100% right.) 4) Run a new wire from the tip of the +5v out jack (upper left corner) to the third pad on the switch. This is position on the switch is for drone mode. (There might be a +5 somewhere closer, but I didn't feel like digging; this one works.) And it works!
