I got hold of a Cheetah MS6 for a good price a couple of days ago. Since it seems to be quite a rare synth, I thought I should give you all some info on it. General: 6 part multi-timbral 6 voice polyphony 320 ROM sounds 96 RAM sounds MIDI in/out/thru mono out resonant analog filters oscillator sync 2 envelopes, 2 DCOs, 1 lfo per voice Other: it does sysex patch dumps. It's programmable from the front panel...12 similar buttons and a two digit display. Quite a yucky interface, but since the voice architecture is very straightforward, it's not hard to program. You can't control the sounds much in real time, just the basics: LFO cutoff frequency, LFO modulation depth and a few other things. Simple mod routings. Sound: I just love this thing! The envelope attacks are fast, basses are clear and punchy and the lead patches scream. This box just begs to be played! It's a great tool for classic analog sounds, and since it's multitimbral, it gives you a lot of creative power. It's a shame it doesn't have stereo outs though. Something I haven't tried out yet, but will, is to play six different lead patches simultaneously on six different channels. That sound will probably cut through steel. :) Base
