In addition to that wonderful 4 or 5 bit sampling, it's an additive synth! You hit the 'synth' button, and then the keyboard can be used to represent each overtone. You hold a key down to increase the volume of that overtone. Then you select an envelope the same way. The most remarkable thing about this is that once you've done all that, the resulting patches all sound pretty much the same! I'm willing to trade mine for a 303 ;-) [Incidentally, I actually had a dream about finding a 303 cheap last night. I don't even covet them particularly -- it'd be nice if one fell in my lap but if not I'm not going to run through the streets waving fistfuls of cash, but here I am in this dream getting really excited about it. The downward spiral begins ...] I've a fair amount of Casio gear because it was really cheap -- no one else wanted it. Now Future Music and Keyboard both have recommended the CZ series as a good retro score. The bidding on my CZ-1 starts at $1000! Or I'll take a Serge panel in trade ... -- [Kent Williams/CADSI/2651 Crosspark Rd/Coralville IA 52241] kent.williams@cadsi.com
