Music Machines Spec Sheet ------------------------- Synth: Casio SK-5 Review by: Mike Nail Summary: the world's second cheapest sampling keyboard Years Made: ?? Polyphony: 4 Multitimbrality: 3 (only in demo mode, otherwise mono w/drums) MIDI: Note on/off: MIDI controllers (aftertouch, CC, etc): Sysex patch dumping: Sysex parameter control: Other inputs/external control: mic/line input for sampling CV/Gate: Clock: Other CV: Audio: Proprietary (DCB, etc): Programmer: Outputs: headphone, built in speaker Patch storage: stores 4 samples, even when shut off! Patch dumping (tape, MIDI, etc): Voice architecture: pcm Interface: Sequencer/Arpeggiator: real time sequencer Keyboard/rack: 3 octave mini-keys Known problems: Accessories: Related synths/gear: SK-1 Price range: Availability: super rare Comments: more useful than SK-1 in some respects Strengths: sampling Weaknesses: no useful internal sounds (SK-1 at least had an organ worth overdriving) Overall: WAY too much fun Other: the ability to save samples makes this actually useful, but overall it is NOT a replacement for the SK-1. It does allow you to reverse and loop samples and adjust envelopes, but the great SK-1 demo song is GONE!
