Okay, the HR16 is the original gray box machine, and is pretty groovy. The HR16B is in a black case, and has different samples which really kick ass. It was made to complement the HR16. The SR16 has stereo samples (IIRC), and has more of them. It is also black. >will i be able to assign note numbers and/or channels to different pads? You can assign note numbers to the different pads, which are mildly velocity sensitive (8/16 levels?). I don't know whether you can assign individual midi channels, or note lengths though.
