But I wasn't willing to pay much more, so I didn't really look into the other models. To add some more features on the S2000: Uses 1 or 2 industry standard SIMMs - no longer proprietary. May be 32 or 36 bit, 4 MB or 16 MB (not 8 MB). Has 2 MB installed which is active and adds to additional memory unless you put in the full 32 MB. 70 ns or better. Can also be EDO. Display is 16 chars by 2 lines. Very limited, but comes with Mac editing software. I believe a windows version just came available as noted in the 12/96 edition of Keyboard Magazine. Comes with 2 analog outputs, expands to 10 for just about $215 street. Has 2 analog unbalanced inputs. Has 32 voice polyphony, responds to 16 MIDI Channels. Includes 2 SCSI Connectors for external drives. I believe that there is a HD limit of 540 MB??? But it reportedly works with both Zip and Jaz drives from Iomega. Rumor is that it may be possible to mount an internal drive, but no hardware or connectors are included. Comes with 1 diskette (1.44MB) of sample sounds. I'm planning to use mine to sample my analogue synths (whenever I get them finished!) and use all of that wonderful polyphony!
