This is a really great truly analog synthesizer with MIDI capability (in,out, thru)... it has VCOs, not DCOs, so it goes out of tune... BUT it has an "auto tune" button that works perfectly... All the charm and none of the hassle. The VCF can sound very gritty for a reason I don't understand: a parameter that makes the filter modulate with itself or something. But it can also sound very pure, and it's velocity sensitive. Very similar to the Juno 106 but with some big advantages. For example, you have different waves, can change wave width for non-pulse waves, can put it in double mode so you can play 3 notes instead of 6 but you can detune them and it sounds amazing (mono mode available, also, of course). Built-in chorus. (I don't have the manual. It's very easy to program from the front panel, but I haven't figured out what all the paramaters actually are since I haven't read the manual.) The biggest advantage of this synth is to people who use Akai samplers: you can use the waves from your Akai samplers (and other samplers if you can figure out the wiring scheme) and MIX them in with the analog waves and apply the filters to them. This synth is kind of hard to find, and this is a really cool feature (if you use Akai samplers or are a wire-head; I'm neither). So why am I selling it? I've got too many synths, and this is one of my most recent acquisitions. And I can't figure out how to do a MIDI bulk dump from it, and I don't have the patience to use the cassette interface for that. Also, it's the noisiest synth in my rack. It's the best sounding analog monster, too, but I've got to be practical. Make offer over $300. There's been a great debate about COD. I hate UPS COD for a lot of reasons. You can prepay (which is what I almost always do when I buy) or you can pay for the extra costs of FedEx COD (not as much as you might think, but unnecessary in my mind).
