Basically, the strip of contact material in the slider has worn through somewhere in the middle. So when it's below the break point it acts like full 'down' no matter where it is, and when it's above the breakpoint it works pseudo-normally. I swapped out the slider and all was well. I have the same thing wrong with my SH101, but alas Roland doesn't have the sliders I need. And I haven't bothered to find them elsewhere.
