The tech added patch points to each VCO waveform, LFO and sample & hold, +,- ADSR outs, sync in jacks for the VCOs, an LED for the LFO, and jacks below all the black switches. Basically he turned it into a mini 2600. Also he tweaked the signal path and the filter to restore the low end that is destroyed by the original ARP design. I compared it to my black & gold Odyssey and the modded Avatar blows it away. This tech can do this for any Avatar and the orange and white Odysseys. The black and gold ones are harder to modify because of metal supports that are in there. I highly recommend you send your ARP stuff to this guy to get modified. His prices are very good and the work is extremely professional. Give him a call at (610) 694-8886. His name is Phil. If you want more info one what he did, talk to him or drop me an email. I know this sounds like a shameless plug, but the difference in the sound, and the added flexibility is simply amazing. -- _______________________________________________________________________________ Tom Moravansky tmoravan@netcom.com still looking for a Synthex From fEEd@maroon.tc.umn.eduWed Apr 5 23:37:48 1995 Date: Tue, 4 Apr 95 12:33:15 CST From: fEEd To: analogue@hyperreal.com Subject: Re: Arp Mod Question.. Well, i had the mod done and have quite a few patchable synths so i think i can field this ok. The routing on an Odyssey is pretty good already (as you noted) but the addition of the patch points opens it up to even MORE routing. I use it mostly for external processing, but that is just one of the many ways of using it. For example, I run the output of the VCOS through external efx boxes\synths and then back into the filter, then I run the filter output back out into something else and then back into the Oddyssey's amp. If you think the odyssey has cool VCOs just try runnign them through a Vortex PRE-MOOG-FILTER.:> I through a few wierd modulation routings in the mix (incuding Bruce's beloved s/h which now has trigger in thanks to the mod) and out the end comes a big nasty mf! I am trying to use my WHOLE studio as one big modular as much as I can, and the odyssey now looking like a piece of swiss cheese helps this out quite a bit. Of course you can use it as a self contained unti just as well. >Other mods he can do are to clean up the 4072 filter for about $49, and >can install a moog filter (he has the schematics) for $149. I had the MOOG filter put in mine and it sounds *KILLER*. Definitely worth it to all you none white face owners out there. Hey Phil does excellent work for a fair price and has it back to in < 2 weeks, what more can you ask for?
