It's much better, sounds much better, has a better filter, much more flexible, you can really make freaky analogue sounds with this baby, and it looks cool too! The enveloppes are so fast, that I made some slamming 909/808-like bassdrums in less then a minute (and I'm a relative newbie). The PLUS offers a audio-in, and I believe has a MIDI/CV converter. It has a flexible arpeggiator wich can be MIDI-synced, the moog-like filters can be overdriven for different characteristics, LFO's can be MIDI-synced, all the parameters can be changed real-time using MIDI-controllers, it has a very flexible modulation-matrix, almost everything can be routed to everything, and it has 3 VCO's. Specs from the plus from Waldorf: "Waldorf Pulse Plus Monophonic Analog Synthesizer with CV/Gate interface For communication with voltage controlled equipment, the Pulse Plus is equipped with an additional CV/Gate interface plus an input for an external Audio Signal. The CV/Gate interface consists of the following additional connections : CV In Gate In CV 1 Out CV 2 Out Gate Out Audio In Waldorf Pulse Technical Features: Three Oscillators with variable Waveform pulse, saw and triangle Oscillator 1 and 2 pulsewave with variable pulsewidth Osc 2 Crossmodulation and Sync New Waldorf 24 dB lowpass filter with resonance up to self-oscillation 100 programs, divided into 59 ROM presets, 40 user programs and one random sound Two envelopes with selectable trigger each Two LFOs, LFO1 with 5 different waveforms tri, sin, saw, pulse, sample&hold LFO frequency range from 0.008 Hz up to 261 Hz Arpeggiator All parameters changes sent/received as MIDI controller Four routable modulation units with adjustable source, amount and destination 16 modulation sources: off LFO1 LFO1 * Modwheel LFO1 * Aftertouch LFO2 LFO2 * Envelope Envelope 1 Envelope 2 Velocity Keytrack Pitch follow Pitchbend Modwheel Aftertouch Breath Control Control X 16 modulation destinations: Pitch Osc1 Pitch Osc2 Pitch Osc2 Pitch Osc1 Pulsewidth Osc2 Pulsewidth Osc1 Level Osc2 Level Osc3 Level Noise Level Cutoff Resonance Volume Panning LFO1 Speed Mod1 Amount Large 3 x 7 segment LED display six knobs and four buttons for convenient editing 19" 2HE Rackmount Stereo Line out MIDI In/Out/Thru External 12v DC Power supply" I would say that all of these options would justify the higher price of the Pulse, because I think it's in an entirely other category as the bass-station. But listen first, as always! (-; Olaf Olaf Molenveld -------------- Advance Interactive tel: +31-356250606 fax: +31-356250654 E-mail: olaf@advance.nl -----------------------
