Synth Module. Not inherently rack-mountable. Cool if cheap. Not worth more than $100. It's essentially a D-110 without persistent patch memory. I've got one and it's a pain to edit sounds with it (requires computer), and worse yet, it doesn't store your patches permanently after you've created them. I use the stock patches because the editing, etc. is such a hassle. Might be worth it if you have a good editor (I don't - I've been using a buggy shareware system). Additionally, the patches have a somewhat whiny quality that I can't quite describe. Could be useful when you need to layer sounds. I like using the patches in ways that they were not intended to be used. Some have a definite "optimum octave range" to them... In its defense, it's a multitimbral unit, which is very useful when using a sequencer. It even has a dedicated rhythm section bank (sampled drum sounds, etc.) that responds to channel 10. I haven't figured out how to get it to change the channel settings for each bank yet, but there's ways around that. Some patches are pretty cool, especially the rhythm-oriented patches - which might be useful if you had a device like an Octapad. Check out SynthSite for more information & reviews http://www.sonicstate.com/bbsonic/synth/index.cfm ). Like I said before - it's cool if you can get it cheap. h o p e t h i s h e l p s! :: e v a n k. s t o n e :: p e t a l u m a, c a l i f o r n i a, u s a ------------------------------------------------ :: mailto:estone@knowledgepoint.com :: http://www.knowledgepoint.com > -----Original Message----- > From: analogue-owner@hyperreal.org > [mailto:analogue-owner@hyperreal.org]On Behalf Of Vertical 8 > Sent: Wednesday, May 05, 1999 12:53 PM > To: analogue@hyperreal.org > Subject: [AH] info needed: Roland MT-32 > > > Somebody has offered me a Roland Mt-32. > Anybody know what the hell this thing is? > Thanks in advance. > Jason >
