From PAiA@aol.com Sun Dec 4 10:18:45 1994 Date: Sun, 4 Dec 1994 00:49:55 -0500 From: PAiA@aol.com To: analogue@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu Subject: PAiA MIDI/CV description, commen I really appreciate the analogue.heaven readers that took the time to explain to me the difference between a newsgroup and a mail list. I have decided to take the advice of those who suggested I wait to subscribe until I was in position to keep up with the large volume of traffic on this list. I have also been asked to post some information on PAiA's new MIDI/CV replacement for the discontinued MV8. I hope that readers with the time and interest will comment on the following canned text that I have been sending to email requests for information: --------------------------------------------------- PAiA is developing a new 8 output MIDI/CV card. Each output can be either a Control Voltage or Gate and cards can provide either exponential CVs that work with PAiA, Korg and Yamaha or linear to be compatible with the rest of the world. Ouput voltage or gate signals appear on the tip of a 1/4" stereo phone jack with the ring connected to an open collector transistor for MOOG type "S" or other wired-or triggers. In it's initial configuration there will be a number of DIP swicth selectable options such as pitch and gate for four synths; pitch, velocity, pitch wheel and gate for 2 synths; CVs from continuous controller messages and so on. We will be offering a software upgrade shortly after introduction to allow sys-ex assignment of any appropriate MIDI data to any output. More than eight outputs can be realized by daisy chaining muliple cards using their MIDI Thru jacks. The card's form factor will be approx. 3-1/2 X 4-1/2 inches and will require 12VAC 150mA power. Target price of the card is $100. A rack case that will hold two cards will also be available. This as yet unnamed product will be available in about February of '95. There is a good chance that it will appear as a DIY article in Electronic Musician magazine, but one never knows about these things until they actually happen. Since design is not completely out of the conceptualization phase, now is a particularly good time to contribute any comments or suggestions. ---------------------------------------------------- Please remember that I do not presently subscribe to analogue.heaven so messages should be emailed to paia@aol.com. Public thanks to repeat my private messages to all those who emailed information and support. It was greatly appreciated. Warmest regards, John Paia Simonton
