From Dave Kean- Chief designer- Ray Dennison Chief engineer- Rich Walborn Mechanical spec-Tony Marchese Draftsman-Art Sarriani PC board Layout-Dick Schlriff Test and Assembly-Pete Zanglein I DCO and one analog osc per voice, 8voices in split, single or layer. The DCO ran at concert pitch and the analog osc was used for a synched partial to give analog timbral qualities to the stable DCO. This was the LAST instrument to be made at the Moog factory. The design team was happily cranking out this instrument with full assurance from the powers that be that it would go into production. What was really happening was a series of negotiations with the bank to restructure the company. The primary dictum from the bank? NO MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS!!! SO, the SL-8 was kept quiet and, in the end, not allowed to go into production. The only other "instrument" on the boards at this time was Tom Rhea's "Song Producer". More on it from the audities.org site soon. I think I've heard mention of it, but I've never seen it. If this is a prototype for a post-Memorymoog product, then it would date to 1983 or 1984. By that time I was getting ready to move my family to Waltham, Massachusetts so I could work for Kurzweil. The bottom line: It's not one of my designs, for sure! :) Mark _______________________________________________________ Try the AH Archives! http://www.midiwall.com/aharchives
