For your reference, here is the location I wish to post to: http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Alesis/MMT-8/ Thank You, Bill White I have owned quite a few pieces of Alesis gear over the years and I too have had problems with intermittent buttons on HR16 & MMT8 machines. The problem has been so bad at times that the rapid fire static causes these boxes to freeze and crash. The solution I found is very simple, long lasting and effective enabling my fine Alesis boxes perform flawlessly to this day. So here is the remedy: 1. Take the unit apart by removing the 4 screws from the back. 2. Remove circuit board connectors to free the back from the front. 3. Remove the contact/LED circuit board by removing the 9 or so screws. 4. Remove the rubber button pieces and wash them with a fine toothbrush in warm water and dish soap. While your at it, clean the front plastic cover as well. 5.Take the contact board and clean the silver colored contact areas with 1500 grit wet/dry sand paper. Don't use anything coarser than that. Clean just until the contact surfaces are bright and shiny. The area where most of the problem occurs is not the button, but instead the oxidized leaded contact board surfaces. 6.Reassemble the unit once all parts are thoroughly dry. 7.Enjoy a nice clean sequencer/drum machine that performs as new.
