Not entirely true, depending on your 303.  For RELIABLE memory backup,
keep a fresh set of C cells in your 303.  Many 303s have enough
capacitance in the SRAM power circuit to maintain the memory for up to a
week.  Most 303s, and other x0x equipment, have enough capacitance to
maintain the memory for at least a minute, so that you can change out the 
batteries w/o losing everything.  Your mileage may vary, so test it out 
on some replaceable data first.
