Very very similiar sounds, that sort of hollow roland filter sound, that only the roland stuff has (God, it sure as hell doesn't sound like they've got curtis filters in these things... all my sequential circuits stuff doesn't sound ANYTHING like the roland gear i have..) Todd sines has one, ask him. :) I didn't like the sounds it was making when i played with his, but, through a couple effects boxes and delay,s i'll give ANYTHING a play :) -john From analogue-request@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu Sat May 15 14:40:00 1993 Received: by quark.magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu (5.65/3.910213) id AA02087; Sat, 15 May 93 14:38:58 -0400 Errors-To: analogue-request@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu Sender: analogue-request@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu Received: from nkosi.well.sf.ca.us by quark.magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu (5.65/3.910213) id AA02079; Sat, 15 May 93 14:38:56 -0400 Received: from cyberden.UUCP by nkosi.well.sf.ca.us with UUCP id AA26597 (5.65c/IDA-1.5 for analogue@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu); Sat, 15 May 1993 11:38:51 -0700 Received: from cyberden.UUCP by moon.nbn.com (4.1/NBN-16/MOON-63) id AA18226; Sat, 15 May 93 11:36:25 PDT Received: by cyberden.sf.ca.us (1.65/waf) via UUCP; Sat, 15 May 93 10:44:08 PDT for analogue@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu To: analogue@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu Subject: 202 From: loophead@cyberden.sf.ca.us Reply-To: loophead@cyberden.sf.ca.us Comments: CyberMember Message-Id: Date: Sat, 15 May 93 10:42:58 PDT Organization: Indescribable Creations Status: OR No one's mentioned this, so... If you're trying to get 303 acid sounds on a 202, the right patch helps but the note-selectable portamento is KEY to getting the SLIDE effect of the 303. The portamento can be turned on/off for any given note and is available on both the internal and external channels (Sounds great with the SH101). Unfortunately, the portamento rate is not programmable and is the same for both channels. For the internal channel, you can also do volume accents ala 808/909. I'll post how to do this unless its common knowledge. What I'm wondering is, did any of Roland's other CV/GATE sequencers have this programmable portamento feature? Also, did Roland ever make a CV/GATE sequencer with MIDI IN (for clock)? Or is that why everyone builds their own MIDI-triggered CV/GATE sequencers?
