Hmmm, first an information request: Can you tell me where to order service manuals for Multivox gear? I don't recall what happened to Multivox. They don't have a phone in Hauppage, NY USA, any more. The 1985 entry in the mfgrs FAQ lists and address in Hauppage, but no phone number. Ob. Analog: MX-880s are cool! I got mine out of the closet the other day to finally check on my suspicions that this is a Roland unit in disguise. I got it far enough apart to confirm my suspicions, but I did not find the Roland name on anything. It just has all the same parts, knobs, fuses, etc. as my old Roland SH-1000. It is a different beast, though, perhaps it is an SH-2000. It is preset-only, and has a second VCO that you can vary the tracking on so that you get thickening or harmonies. It has some manual filter controls that you can switch on. The metal information plate on the back of the unit states that it was made in Japan (gee....), but I thought that Multivox stuff was at least mostly Italian. Hmmmmm, those MX-3000s may be even more interesting than we thought! Surprising to me was that it actually sounds very good! Better than my SH-1000, though I would probably have a better opinion of the SH-1000 at this point. Major blip and bleep potential here. It also has an input labeled "Audio/Synch." I don't know what it is for.....yet. It has a VCF control input and a jack labeled "External Gate." I don't know if that gate is an input or an output. If this is really a Roland SH-?000, it is probably 1V/octave, vtrig, like my SH-1000 was. I saw another Multivox the other day, a keyboard-based CV sequencer. It had linear and exponential outputs, with front panel trims for each. It was a controller only. Daddy's Junky Music in Boston wanted $400.00 for it, as I recall. In perfect condition. It is a Tolex-covered-end-pieces model, like my MX-880. Anyone care to describe other Multivox gear? I'm curious now. Eirikur
