Robert? Wow. I feel like my mom is scolding me! Rob or feed does fine Thomas! ;> Now lest talk about something we have all done one time or another: masterbeation. had to get that sick sick sick pun out of the way right off the bat. The masterbeat allows you to generate virtually ANY sync signal from ANY sync signal source. You name it, it does it or syncs to it. You can use Roland sync as the master clock or slave it, either works perfectly fine. The manual has a tutorial section on how to run the Fairlight internal sequencer from a kick drum on tape! Now thats detail! Its the most valuable (non synth) piece in my setup. What other box can sync a roland x0x(roland sync), a korg sq10 analog sequencer(var- triggers), a jupiter 6 arpeggiator(var+ triggers), a MIDI drum box (midi clock) and the memorymoog internal sequencer (24ppq) all at the same time while slaved to an ADAT? I needed to try some different sync sources on my mc4b (more on that later) and I was able to sync it on *ALL* three sync soures (roland din sync, 64ppq, tape sync L) with the masterbeat alone. Tho none gave me the desired results, it was to know I tried all 3 and the problem I was having was not limited to DIN SYNC. No matter what you got, the Garfield will sync it up no problem and is (usually) much cheaper (and more versitile) than the closest thing to it I can think of, the sbx80. Anyone know whaterv happened to Garfield and especially its pres (mr garfield)? On a related note, here a good question for all you mc4b users out there, when you put it into cv+gate (realtime record) mode, does it sync to a external source? Mine syncs fine when in play mode but does not like any clock i give it when in realtime record.
