In Germany, it was published in the ELRAD magazine, and it's a flat-top monophonic lead synth in the Odyssey or Pro-1 style. Its features are not that impressive; don't know if it was single-VCO or single ADSR ? But it's rather rare, more of a collector's item. I saw one (the first one ever) at TBS a few weeks ago. But I didn't have the time to listen to it. JH. It was a constructional project published in British mag "Electronics Today International", and a kit was available from Powertran in England. There was also the Transcendent DPX, an ARP Omni-like preset string/piano synth, and the Transcendent Polysynth, a massive 4-voice thing with the following features: * Two CEM3340 VCOs per voice * One SEM-type 2-pole VCF per voice (LPF mode only) * Two CEM3310 ADSRs per voice * Polyphonic portamento * No microprocessor -> hand tuning (eight fine tune knobs, one per VCO) * Keyboard-less expander version available for increased polyphony -joachim From 100623.3211@compuserve.comWed Jun 21 14:14:58 1995 Date: 21 Jun 95 16:51:37 EDT From: TONY WRIDE <100623.3211@compuserve.com> To: "INTERNET:majortom@muc.de" Cc: ANALOGUE Subject: TRANSCENDENT SYNTHS There were basically two Transcendent synthesizers both featured in ETI and both I believe designed by Tim Orr. A British company called Powertran produced both synthesizers as kits in the early 80s. I built two transcendent 2000s and 4 Transcendent Polysynths. The Transcendent 2000 is a Monophonic unit with a 12 dB filter and is Okay but not that special. The Polysynth is one of my favourites and can be up to 8 note polyphonic provided you have the expander unit with it. As standard the kit came with only one voice card and there was space for a further 3 cards. The expander unit was basically a further 4 Voice cards that attached via a ribbon cable to the main synth. CEM Ics were used for the VCOs and envelopes and like the 2000 a 12dB filter was used. There are no presets but each of the 8 VCOs can be tuned individually and you can put the 4 Voices into unison for one hell of a lead sound! Since the units were kit built, and you were never sure of the build quality they do not hold a very high price ie
