WAVE-to for Windows V1.8 ===================== Thank-you for evaluating WAVE-to for windows - I hope you find it useful. WAVE-to for Windows is a sample editing / conversion system that works under Microsoft Windows version 3.1 (and above). It is Midi-aware, and can transmit Midi Sample Dumps. WAVE-to can freely convert between many different sample formats, including: Windows RIFF Files (WAV), SoundBlaster (VOC), SampleVision (SMP), Apple / Amiga (AIFF), Atari (MOD), (SAM), (8SVX), Sample Dump (SDS), Sun / DEC / UNIX / NeXT (AU), (SND), Wired for Sound / SoundTools (SND), and Yamaha SY85 wave files (W01). Two different MIDI note generators are included to aid the testing of samples downloaded to synths / sequencers. WAVE-to for Windows will be of particular interest to Yamaha SY85 owners, as it can read and write SY85-format sample disks directly. WAVE-to allows all the normal editing functions, including Cut, Paste and Crop; On-screen graphical editing of sample loop points; Zooming; and has Sample Manipulation functions such as Re-Sampling. The UnRegistered version of this program is Shareware - you are free to evaluate it, give copies to your friends etc, but if after a reasonable period of time you find that you are still using it, you are expected to register. You can either register your copy through compuserve (GO SWREG) or by filling in the Registration form and mailing it to me along with the registration fee. Registration details are included in the On-Line Help documents. Registered users are entitled to unlimited support through compuserve, and to upgrades as they become available. This is intended to be a fully-functional program - there are no silly restrictions (such as not being able to save, or a limit to the length of files you can operate on) except for a registration reminder screen which is displayed for a few seconds as you start and end the program as a gentle reminder that this program isn't free. Installing WAVE-to for Windows To create the distribution disk, unzip (using PKUNZIP 2.04g or later) WAVE2.ZIP onto a floppy disk. To install WAVE-to, select File Run from Windows Program Manager, and in the box type a:setup and follow the instructions. The setup program will create a program manager group, and will create the icons for WAVE-to and the WAVE-to Help file. You will need the Visual Basic RunTime library file VBRUN300.DLL before you can run either WAVE-to for Windows or the Setup program. I haven't included this as it annoys sysops, and just costs you money to download if you've already got it. I have, however included the Visual Basic run-time modules THREED.VBX and CMDIALOG.DLL the setup program will copy these to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory if you don't already have them. If you do have them, it will ask you whether you want to overwrite them. VBRUN300.DLL can be downloaded from most Bulletin Boards. On Compuserve, you can get find it in the Basic forum (GO MSBASIC) in library 1 (MSInfo and Index). Intended future enhancements include: Dump Request Macros and Sample Dump Recieve. SYSEX message editor. Support for Casio Ensoniq sample formats, and UltraSound .PAT files. Time-Stretching. Audio Card Support. Richard R. Goodwin, Clare Cottage, 106 Clare Lane, East Malling. KENT.
