The following disks are sets of song styles separated in categories by the type
of song sequences on a disk. Each disk has 66 different Song Bytes TM sequences
and each Song Bytes sequence is a Standard MIDI File Format 1 song section that
represents specific compositional types of music. Each song style disk contains
three distinct variations and each variation is provided with 22 different root
chord structures.  Each style sequence is four measures long, with each measure
having its own unique character. Each chord structure on a song styles disk has
a root key of C. By transposing the chord structures provided in each variation
within an octave, a total of 792 different chordal varieties can be created for
your use with each style set disk!

Each sequence contains four tracks with drums occupying only one track for ease
of cut-and-paste editing.  In addition to bass and drums, 2 instrumental tracks
are used to bring out the structure and enhance the fullness of an arrangement.
No MIDI continuous controllers are used -  All effects are achieved solely with
note-on / note-off messages which allows cross-compatibility with all synths as
not all MIDI synths support continuous controllers or other various performance
parameters.  The Song Bytes style sets were produced using the 'block' function
of the Roland JW-50 Music Workstation which provides extensive capabilities for
composition and accompaniment.   These style sets are an excellent study of how
to create and compose a wide variety of song styles or feels using notes alone.
If you're using a commercial sequencer program, these songs will assist whether
you are composing original material or sequencing cover songs.  The style disks
are especially useful when you need specific types of music for projects and we
have found them to be excellent tools to assist in overcoming creative blocks.

The sequences are set up for use on General MIDI instruments, which uses Roland
drum number mapping, but can be used with any synth or any drum machine able to
recreate the sounds as defined in the track documentation.  An easy-to-use drum
number re-mapping program is included on each disk so you can easily change any
sequence to be compatible with your drum machine.  Several re-mapping templates
are on each disk for use with the re-map program and include template files for
Alesis, EMU Proteus and Yamaha as the Song Bytes TM contain the Roland mapping.
Instruction templates are included to allow you to easily create new re-mapping
drum templates using any word processing program. Each style sets disk includes
extensive on-disk documentation for your ease of use.  The Song Bytes styles on
the following disks are designed for loading into a MIDI sequencer program able
to accept MIDI File Format 1 song files. Most, if not all, commercial sequencer
programs are capable of reading files in Formats 1 and 0. The documentation for
your sequencer will explain this capability. As long as your sequencer can load
and edit MIDI File Format songs, you will be able to use these song style disks
