It's an 11 band vocoder and the generally accepted thought is that the more frequency bands, the better the analysis and synthesis. The SVC gives you fairly intelligible 'vocoded vocals'. It has more individual controls than the ems 2000. The next level up would be the ems 3000 and then the Moog/Bode vocoders. Oh, the smaller Syntons would be somewhere here too.
