If you just want time domain effects and pitch manipulation (no distortion) try a Rocktron Intellifex. I bought mine new for %50 off list (mail order) at Rhythym City in Goergia. It's not a slicer/dicer/swiss army knife unit. It does time domain: reverbs/echos/pitch manipulation/flanging/echo/chorus and is MIDI controllable and has MIDI channel mapping. MIDI as in program select and I think real-time parameter control. It has a 24 bit processing, ( a lot of units are only 16 bit) and DOES NOT GLITCH when changing programs. It also has a function called "ducking" for reverb and echo. When you play the unit can be programed to reduce the volume of echos and/or reverbs while you are playing and then return the echo/reverbs to original volume when you pause/stop playing. This way the echos/reverbs don't mush up what you play. The level of attenuation is programmable. It is also very quiet. Hope this helps, Bill
