First off I think the sounds are pretty damn good. They range from 808/909 to crunchy hip hop to snappy drum'n'bass to regular standard kits. The filter/rez knobs are mucho fun though the filter has pronounced stair stepping, something I don't mind too much as you can do some S/H imitations with it. The flanger sounds great, very thick but not metallic sounding, more like phase shifting than flanging. There are 64 user drum kits and I think something like 192 preset, can't quite remember. You can edit inividual sounds including filter, rez, decay, pan, volume. I have no idea what it's like to program, I didn't even hit the play button I just banged away and twisted the knobs. From what I understand the knobs send and receive CCs. The pads are not velocity sensing but I would guess it receives velocity. It lists for $499, GC is selling them for $399 but I got him down to $349. Would I buy one for $349? Hmmmmmaybe...most likely I'll wait until they start popping up used for $250 - $275 cuz I'm such a cheap bastard. They had a used Prophecy there for $499, came close to snagging it, would've if I coulda figured out how to do some tweaking right there. New Pulses for $499 but none to play with:( steve d AH Compilation Tape Info Synth Crap Gear For Sale Music Marmoset Recipes http://users.nac.net/skullsaw Date: Wed, 14 Oct 1998 21:31:27 -0400 From: steven dubofsky To: analogue@hyperreal.org Subject: [AH] DR-202 - forgot something Forgot to mention that it also does bass. You have assorted 303ish samples all the way to upright bass. From what I can tell you can lay down a track of drums and a parallel bass track. Again, the basses come alive with the knobs. To sum up I'd say it's a cut down MC303 but with a much simpler interface and better drums and I would hope a better midi implementation. steve d -- AH Compilation Tape Info Synth Crap Gear For Sale Music Marmoset Recipes http://users.nac.net/skullsaw This is my synth. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My synth is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it, as I must master my life.
