Judging by the photo I have (which is from some French e-music mag), the original write switch allows you to step through the pattern (stepping increment set with a rotary switch) and write or erase the instrument (chosen with the front panel knob, I assume) at the current step. So yes, it does things you can't do with your foot. :-) >Also, does >anyone know a good way to sync this thing up since it's 12ppq? Good question; I don't have an answer. Maybe I need to build a box that allows step programming and MIDI clock sync. Anyone interested in providing venture capital for such an endeavor? :-) Personally, I think the CR-78 is even cooler than the TR-808. Yes, the 808 is easily programmed and has flashing LEDs, but hey, the CR-78 has buttons labeled DISCO and BOOGIE. We're talkin' serious vintage value here, folks. :-) --Adam Adam Schabtach nebulous@netcom.com ------------------------------------------------- Roshi Metlay's studio koan: "Does a Tabasco bottle have Lexicon-nature?" --John 0 From bd81581@bingsuns.cc.binghamton.eduTue Apr 18 10:36:57 1995 Date: Tue, 18 Apr 1995 13:08:33 -0400 (EDT) From: bd81581@bingsuns.cc.binghamton.edu To: analogue@hyperreal.com Subject: CR-78 programming To program the cr-78, I just use a regular Roland footswitch (the dp-2 or any other footswitch will send a click to the cr-78). Just put it into the TS-1 write jack. Adjust the knob on the front to the sound you want and insert it with the footswitch. If you make a mistake and want to erase it, you can set the lever in the programming section and hold down the white memory erase button. The only problem with all of this is that your inputs need to be perfectly timed because it doesn't quantize... I'd like to know if the original write switch for the cr-78 has any other options that you can't do with a regular footswitch? Also, does anyone know a good way to sync this thing up since it's 12ppq?
