Can anyone recommend a good book that explains CV and how to use it. The BEST book I've ever read on CV is Allen Strange's "electronic music: systems, techniques, and controls" 2nd edition (1983). Beware - the 1st edition was written in 1972 & SEVERELY lacking. You'll probably have to scour a few libraries to find a copy. If you do find it at a library, please photocopy & return it so others can use it too. Chapter headings include: Basic Signal Processing - Amplifiers and Filters, Concepts of Voltage Control, Control Voltage Sources, Sub-Audio Modulation, Audio Rate Modulation, Equalization and Filtering, Magnetic Tape Recording, Audio Mixing, and Reverbration Echo and Feedback. The book is chock full o' graphics to explain what's going on, as well as various wigged-out electronic scores, and pictures of various Modules (you can actually read the legends). It also has a huge bibliography w/ capsule reviews. Tres Kuhl! 250+ pages of useful info. 808OUT "Extremely high settings of filter resonance will make the filter oscillate so that it produces a pitch of its own. This is a technique often used on analog synthesizers of the past." - TG77 Operating Manual Hmmm...I guess noone uses this technique on analog synthesizers of the present...
